Deutsche Telekom said its 5G network is using the new 700 MHz frequency to support mobile network operators in improving mobile coverage in rural areas, Telecom Lead reported on June 7.
"5G's use of the 700 MHz frequency is a logical continuation of our spectrum strategy. We want to provide our customers with the best possible network anytime, anywhere. We are bringing fast internet to more people across the country and improving 5G coverage in rural areas." Germany Walter Goldenits, head of telecommunications technology, said.
The 700MHz frequency antenna forms a large wireless cell with a radius of 5 to 10 kilometers, depending on the geographical conditions. Deutsche Telekom has also introduced the latest mobile radio standards in a future-proof way in areas where there is no or very little signal reception, a radio cell is an area where an antenna is covered with a radio signal.
At the new frequencies, telecom's 5G signals have the potential to provide better indoor coverage, and the 700 MHz frequencies are much longer wavelengths than previous 5G frequencies, which basically penetrate buildings and walls better
