On August 9th, according to foreign media reports, Gartner’s latest report predicts that the revenue of the global 5G network infrastructure market will grow by 39% in 2021. According to Gartner's estimates, the revenue of $19.1 billion will far exceed the figure of $13.7 billion in 2020.
Michael Porowski, senior principal research analyst at Gartner, said that the new crown pneumonia epidemic has increased the need for optimized and ultra-fast broadband connections to support home work and bandwidth-intensive applications such as streaming video, online games and social media applications.
"Business and customer demand is an influencing factor of this growth. When consumers return to the office, they will continue to upgrade or switch to Gigabit fiber to home services, because connectivity has become an important remote work service." Porowski said.
Gartner found that 5G accounted for 39% of total wireless infrastructure revenue this year.
The report also pointed out that with the shift of CSP to 5G small cells, the market's investment in other wireless infrastructure is rapidly decreasing.
Gartner added that the Greater China region will still maintain its number one position, with 5G revenue reaching US$9.1 billion in 2021. Gartner predicts that by 2024, 60% of CSPs will provide commercial 5G services.
